THE BLOGGER AS VICTIM OF UNFAIR PLAY.

It must have been a deliberate act or they did not know the implication of what they did. But if you are worthy of respect as a writer, you have to think a million times especially if the subject of your ire is a no-nonsense Philippine Daily Inquirer writer. They have maligned the blogger and they must be rejoicing but the Almighty will fight our cause. Again, we say, the justice of God will run its course; it may be slow but it will come like a thief in the night.

ILOKANO WRITERS' GROUP IN P10-B SCAM?

The blogger stumbled upon this banner headline in The Norluzonian (August 27-September 02, 2013), one of the oldest tabloids in Amianan, if not in the Philippines.

We are quoting the first two paragraphs of the article in the first page of the weekly published by veteran newsman Joe Gonzales.

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, La Union-- A reliable source reaching the editorial desk disclosed that one of the Non-Government Organizations based in Ilocos Region was among the recipients of millions of pesos from the Pork Barrel (Countryside Development Fund) of certain solons in Northern Luzon.

The following did not appear in the tabloid, but this pertains to the alleged involvement of the Sir Pelagio Alcantara Development Foundation(SPADE) in the P10-B scam. The item was part of a long front page article in the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Sources said that the foundation was used by one of the sons of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala in availing the former's pork barrel through a farmer's non-government organization in Quezon province.

California-based Ilokano singer Vhen Bautista featured in an Ilokano-English magazine

Accordingly, how can a La Union based foundation operate in that far-away province?
The blogger personally knows the family as decent and honorable. One of the sons of the late Sir Pelagio, his namesake, was number 3 in a board examinations in architecture.

INTELLECTUAL IMBECILES

Organizations for writers palliate the writer's loneliness but I doubt if they improve his writing. -Ernest Hemingway, 1954 Nobel Prize winner.

Instead of writing good literature, these writers are wasting their time concocting lies against fellow writers. They should examine themselves first: what they did and are doing. One of them screwed the organization and got away with his corruption. And one of them knows this. Well, as they say, birds of the same feather flock together.

HE HAS LOST HIS RIGHT TO LEAD?

I think of you, my dearest Philippines, as a promise of beauty, a virgin Goddess, untouched by the porky ugliness of Janet Napoles.

              THE TENTACLES OF GREED

It appears that the Philippine President has lost the moral and intellectual ascendancy to lead the country. He bears a great name and, therefore, a great responsibility to guide, inspire and steer the nation to heights, especially at this time that we are threatened by powerful forces like China. Things are not what they are now under his watch. Yet he may still spring a surprise by changing his thought: cut off the tentacles of the politics of greed and bring us to economic paradise with honor and dignity.

DSICOURSE ON A SUNDAY MORNING

The following is from a red book the blogger used for jotting down notes as a government journalist circa late 1980s:

"Men will continue to have impure and poisoned blood as long as they propagate unclean thoughts. Out of a clear heart

Oscariz, Ramon, Isabela, ricefield

comes a clean life and a clean body. Out of a defiled mind proceeds a defiled life and a corrupt body. Thought is a fount of action, life and manifestation; make the fountain pure and all will be pure."

The above could have been copied from a book written by a religious person.

DID THE TV BROADCASTER SURVIVE THE VEHICULAR ACCIDENT?

The blogger went to an accident area this morning along the highway in Oscariz, Ramon, Isabela, where a dump truck with plate number RFR 273 collided with a Mitsubishi Space Wagon with plate number TRV 1555 driven by Julius Camba, a television broadcaster in the Cagayan Valley.

Witnesses said that Camba's car smashed into the dump truck that was going in the opposite direction. The impact sent his car spinning around. He was pinned between the front seat and the steering wheel and rescuers had to use a crew bar to get the broadcaster out of his vehicle.

Cresencio Rosete, a village policeman, who carried Camba to an ambulance car, said that Camba was bleeding profusely, his left leg broken. Rosete, who was driving his motorcycle down the same road at that time said Camba was overtaking another vehicle when the accident happened.

Postscript: Sources said Camba was taken to the De Vera Medical Center in Santiago City, but has been transferred to a Manila hospital. Julius died several days later. He was buried in his hometown.

WE MUST ALSO CHANGE OURSELVES

Beware of One-Track Minds

They will not listen to what you say. Their conclusions are final and irrevocable. Like this person who accused the blogger of non-remittance of money collections. What remittance? Was he there when the blogger collected the money? That advertisement in a souvenir program of the organization, he said.

The blogger never collected the money--the magazine (that printed the souvenir program) was never delivered because the advertiser was in America at that time.
                                **************

I put the dark okra seeds, no bigger than rice grains--on a discarded noodle cup, put water on it and laid it aside in a corner of the abong-abong in the backyard. The following morning, I took the cup and perused the seeds, some of which have sprouted. How will that shoot, no bigger than a comma, grow into a "bush" of many fruits? The mystery of the seeds is the mystery of God, that they say is a spirit.

WE MUST ALSO CHANGE OURSELVES

"Not only must we accept ourselves, but we must also change ourselves. Until the day of our death we can change, we can tap hidden resources in our make-up. We can discipline ourselves to turn from the morbid circle of useless self-pity or enslavement to childish frustrations and begin to give our energy to other people, to a cause, a movement, a great social enterprise. In such service we can find freedom from ourselves and liberty from our fears."- Joshua Liebman

WILL THESE PHILIPPINE SENATORS RESIGN? THEY ROBBED THE FILIPINOS OF THEIR TAXES.

There were names recorded in the "red", "green" books of Janet Napoles, the alleged brains of the P10-billion scam that shook the Philippines last August. The names included those of senators and congressmen who signed documents giving authority to fake NGOs run by Napoles to withdraw money from the Priority Development Assistance Fund. The lawmakers like Revilla were given "kickbacks" for giving access to their PDAFs.

These are some of the prominent lawmakers listed in the books: former Senate President Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, Sen. Jinggoy Estrada, Sen. Ramon Revilla, Sen. Gregorio Honasan, Sen. Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and Sen. Vicente Sotto. Enrile came out with a press conference denying his his participation in the ransacking the national treasury. Who will believe him?

The system is so rotten, we should commit harakiri, said Sen. Miriam Santiago, adding that Congress should be abolished.

If they will not kill themselves, will the senators involved in the scam resign?

MEMORY-MAKING ON SEPT 1: FLIGHT FROM HONOLULU TO HOUSTON, TEXAS

We were going to Amarillo, Texas for a visit to Anib-Israel and his family. We were aboard Continental Air Lines Flight 72, Honolulu to Houston on Nov. 19, 2006. The pilot was Bill Lewis who was retiring that day after accumulating more than 26,000 hours of flight time. Joining him on this flight was his lovely wife Ann, daughtert Andrea and sob-in-law Mike Hubka, daughters Kate and Robyn and family friend Susan Manglesdorff. He was 60. The pilot make a quick appearance after we landed at the Houston International Airport, where we took a smaller airplane for Amarillo. Anib-Israel, our fourth child, and his wife Dianne, were working at the Northwest Hospital. We spent six months in Amarillo, where we experienced the first snow.
